Sight Seeing

Kotagiri is situated at an altitude of about 1793 m above sea level and is one of three popular hill stations located in the Nilgiris. This picturesque mountain resort is bordered by lush green tea fields and offers a number of options for trekking.

This ancient hill station was developed around numerous hills and valleys. Dodda Betta Range is 22 km. Catherine Falls, Elk Falls, Rangaswami pillar are the main attractions at this location and you can walk to these places. Kodanad View Point offers a spectacular view of rolling hills and the blue hills. There is another jungle trekking path that leads to a small stream.

The three trails are popular Kotagiri - Kodanad; Kotagiri - St. Catherine Falls and Kotagiri - Longwood Shola. The Kotagiri - Kodanad trail takes you through stunning views of verdant tea plantations and the beautiful river Moyar. You have to cross the meadows to reach Kodanad.


 Kodanad View Point - 16 km (10 miles) Kotagiri is about 30 minutes per vehicle. It offers a splendid view of the great plateau of Mysore on one side and the picturesque 50 acres of agricultural cooperation Thengumarahada called, which seems like a green mosaic in the middle of the scrub, lazily meandering of this small village is the river Moyar.

Nehru Park - In the heart of the city, houses a temple of the Kotas, the Maidanam Gandhi (public park), a center of the Congregation and safe from flooding which is normally used for indoor games. It has a beautiful lawn and colorful flowers

Pandiaraj Memorial Park - Located 3 km from the town, Coonoor on the road, this private park has a wide variety of flowers and plants.

Long Wood Shola - Located about 3 km from Kotagiri town, these shoals are maintained as one of the great wildlife reserves in the Nilgiris, perfectly peaceful and traits of virgin forest are home to variety of birds and animals like elephants, bison, boar, and also tigers and leopards

Rangaswamy Pillar - At a distance of 16 kms from Kotagiri Rangaswamy is sacred pillar. The excursion on the eastern slopes of the Nilgiris is popular with tourists to Kotagiri. The site is also a point of view to check the wonderous views of the Nilgiris.

Cathrine St Falls - 15 kms from Kotagiri on the road to Mettupalayam, is a step two waterfalls that tumble down from a height of 250 feet of this beautiful water falls, you get the view of the forest, plantations tea and the city as well Mettupalayam.

Elk Falls - It is a tourist attraction to visit in Kotagiri. This place is famous for its beautiful waterfalls and the beautiful home of European integration during the days of British colonial rule.

Ralliah Dam - On the road to Coonoor-Kotagiri in the military of Wellington, this small dam built by the British in the days before independence, is a silence and a place to picnic cum big trek.
